If you happened to be near Hwy 12 at Michigan Ave in Orofino on Sunday morning, you may have seen a lot of activity at the City Park. Thirty volunteers came together to lend a hand in hanging lights for the Christmas Festival happening Dec. 3rd
from 5-9pm. I was overwhelmed by the response and so appreciative of our community! Together we enjoyed teamwork and the spirit that brings out the best in
people. Conversations, smiles and a few laughs were had as well. With good weather to boot, we were able to accomplish much in a short amount of time. Thank you to the community for extra caution using the park during this time. An estate sale was happening this weekend in the fair building during the same time, so parking was a little difficult and we appreciated the courteous responses from those who used the alternate trestle entrance.
We also welcomed our Grand Clauses to visit for a photo opportunity! The Greene family, Scott, Nancy and Jeff have graciously agreed to receive the honors in our 2021 Old Fashioned Lighted Parade. If you have an entry for the parade, please give Orofino LCCU a call to register at 208-476-5112.
There is still room for more! If you have time or equipment such as high lift or bucket truck, we would love to hear from you. Tree tops are the most difficult and time consuming, as we must be careful not to damage the lawn, so efforts are concentrated on reaching from the pavement with machines. There will be a caution area this Sunday as we work to hang lights in trees along the road above the park.
Volunteers will continue work each Sunday morning until the event. If you would like to help, give Erica a call to sign up or just stop by. 208-476-4335. Thank you to Dan Lambert and the Ziply bucket truck, Dave Holland operating the Debco high lift on loan from Shannon and Lonnie Simpson, Fire Chief Jonathon Hoyt and Lt. Tony Crockett with volunteers Joshua Pospychalla, Brayden Hoyt and Jessica Ruppe of the Orofino Fire Dept., Stephanie Crockett of Builders Design Center, Will & Becca Crockett (Declan and Savy) and Ian Stemrich of Orofino Builders Supply, Jolene & Jon Isbelle of Isbelle Construction, Dan & Terri Kiele of US Bank, Nick Whiteman, Shannon & Diana Schrader, Matt Sartini of Edward Jones Investments, Jordyn Howell, Trapper & Christy Stewart, Lexi Maetche (Dayna and Layla) with thanks also to Laura Wolverton for keeping stock on the shelves!
Heritage Plaza is also getting decorated with help from Jason & Stephanie Lichti and Jared & Malia Erlewine of Lewis Clark Credit Union! Thank you all so much!! Orofino is lighting up to bring joy and you are making it happen!
