The Clearwater County Chamber of Commerce held this month’s General Membership meeting at Chubby’s Pizza in Pierce on Wednesday May 10th. The meeting was well attended and the Happy Hour entertained great conversations and networking.

Executive Director Holland reported 3 new members: Back Country Trading Post, Clearwater Historical Society, and Orofino Farmers Market as well as new owners of the Gold Rush Saloon. Financial reports are available and Outreach through Meta and website have received a lot of attention over the last month with reach and engagement up 200%. Economic Development Director, Susan Jacobson, reported on many grant opportunities available including USDA starting in June, State Parks & Recreation in September, Child Care Expansion open again, and event based tourism support for business partner/collaboration. Please give her a call to discuss any needs you may have. Watch for a Broadband Advisory board to form soon to work on issues with getting better internet for all. The City of Orofino received an AARP Community Challenge grant to install benches along walking paths. Safe Routes to School, Brenda Drobish, is partnering with the OPD to give Ice Cream Tickets to kids displaying good/safe bicycle behavior.
Legislative Committee Chair Dennis Harper was not in attendance. Clinton Daniel, Regional Director for Congressman Fulcher was present and stated Fulcher is in his 5th year in office and participating on many committees including Energy, Lands and Border Security with Title 42 developments to form a new package soon. Please contact Clinton prior to making any trips to DC for special access tours that he can arrange. Susan asked for the congressman to support Child Care needs and ITD communications also.
Barbara-Lee Jordan reported the Innovia Foundation 501C3 has created Uplift Clearwater Grant Funds for 2024 applications toward food insecurity for children and elderly in our county.
Guest Speaker Cindy McCool was unable to attend and Xi Alpha Nu Sorority was represented by Theresa Koepke, Pierce Librarian, to discuss the Hilltop Calendar and other community programs.
The next meeting will be held June 7th at the Log Inn in Elk River. We hope you will plan to attend.
