The Clearwater County Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Membership Meeting Dec 6th at the Ponderosa Banquet room. Ashley Steinbruecker, acting President Pro-tem called the meeting to order at 12:10pm. Minutes from Nov 1st General Membership Meeting were motioned and approved as written. Guests introduced were Robert Ashby of Clearwater Apothecary, Terri Wuckovich and Bill Larsen. Program for the meeting included Holiday Music performed by the Orofino Adventist Christian School musicians and Annual Board Elections confirmed 2023 appointees Lahni Ireland and Robert Meade as officially elected to serve starting 2024.
Announcements presented: CVFDA First Responders Appreciation dinner tickets available for event Jan 20th; Elite Home Health & Hospice Orofino serving within 50 mile radius; Dworshak Fisheries Complex has Admin Asst position open, Friends of NW Fish Hatery has board position open and K-12 Art Contest open until Mar 1st; Christmas Music program at Orofino Adventist Christian School on Dec 14 at 5:30pm; Old World Christmas Music concert FREE at Genesee Church Friday Dec 8th at 5:30pm.
Director Holland gave a report on events and the year to date balance sheet. Meta and website outreach continues to remain strong. No new members for the last month, but more applications are out for completion. The current membership is 178 and growing. The Chamber is hosting a New Year’s Eve event at the Orofino VFW with a concert by Jake Jacobson and a full catered dinner including appetizers, dessert and champagne toast at Midnight. There will be DJ dancing after the countdown and local talent the Backroad Jammers will open for Jake. Tickets are now on sale through the chamber website. Free lunch/dinner drawing was awarded to Matt Sartini of Edward Jones Investments.
Susan Jacobson gave a report from Clearwater County Economic Development on grants in the works throughout all communities for Child Pedestrian Safety and Energy projects. The Orofino City Council approved the request to pursue Phase 1 of Orofino Adventure Park concept, based on the feasibility study supported by the Chamber. Grants and sponsorships are being researched to move forward. LS Investments and the Community Pool board are moving forward. Please give her a call with any questions. No legislative committee reports at this time. Upcoming events include Tom’s Tavern Pirate Gift Exchange & Ugly Sweater Contest Dec 9th and Community Lighting Display Contests to be awarded by the Chamber based on open voting for residents and businesses. Drawing to take place at the end of December. The 2024 calendar was discussed and the director asked for input from membership.
