The Clearwater County Chamber of Commerce welcomes the Elkhorn Tavern to membership. Owners Shawn and Nikki Mattoon have turned their business into a hub of activity in Weippe. Having grown up here, Shawn says he wants to bring the fun and glory back to Weippe. After making great improvements renovating the bar into a comfortable and friendly place to visit, sing karaoke, play pool or just relax, he is now working on getting the kitchen ready to serve up some hometown fried chicken. Nikki is creating the secret recipe and helping to fine tune the menu they hope to be able to announce soon. The couple also enjoy bringing entertainment and community engagement to town, hosting the Wild Weippe Days the third weekend in August. Shawn is the President of the Wild Weippe Days non-profit group he and Nikki created in 2022, to bring the celebration back to town during the same weekend of the Wild Weippe Rodeo. They gathered a few friends to help form the committee and just started putting it together, getting help from anyone willing to be involved. It’s great to see the community rally to help and come out to enjoy what Shawn remembers being a great part of growing up in Clearwater County. The Elkhorn also offers a non-smoking environment with many holiday and occasional celebrations including potlucks and a free Thanksgiving dinner. Stop by and say hello at 123 N Main Street Weippe and meet Charlie (in photo).
